More LA Smiles no-cost Clinical Trainings provide in-person and web-based trainings to promote pediatric caries prevention and disease management for dental providers.
This component helps dental providers gain an understanding of the prevalence and severity of caries, the rationale for risk-based care and how to feel comfortable integrating oral health assessments for pediatric patients. The clinical training program is led by UCLA faculty in collaboration with various program partners and eligible providers can receive no-cost CE credits through the Overview and Advanced courses covering the topics listed below.

The prevalence and severity of caries in infants, children and adolescents;
Understanding dental caries;
Risk-based assessments and population-based approaches;
Preventive and disease management practices;
Systems-based approaches to improving children’s oral health
Rationale for caries risk assessments and population-based approaches;
The Differentiation of carious lesions from non-carious lesions;
Caries management modalities: Fluoride, SDF, Sealants, ITR;
Methods for delivering risk-based oral health clinical services to pediatric dental patients.
